How
to get the Ring Tones into your Siemens
Many thanks to Pascal van Bergen! For This Info.
So, you like to use one of the many ringtones on
this site. But how do you get those odd looking codes into you phone? Not by SMS,
since it's not possible with Siemens phones to do so (only Nokia phones have
this feature). And unless you have a data cable, special software and a model
that supports the cable, you will have to do it by hand. But actually it's quite
simple to do it by hand.
First you will have to select your phone to see
the instructions you'll need:

C25
Go to the menu of your phone, and select
Ringer/Tones.
Go to the RecordMelody
option now, and select it. You're now ready to enter those odd looking codes.
Suppose you would like to use this tune:
D2(1/16) Dis2(1/8) C2(1/16) Cis2(1/16) E2(1/8)
P(1/8) Fis2(1/16) E2(1/16)
The first tone is D2 with a 1/16 length. The
first thing you will have to do is to set the octave to 2 (so that's where the 2
stands for in the code). You do this by pressing the # key until 2 is showing on
your display. After you've set the octave you have to enter the D tone (key 2 on
your phone, see picture below). You should press this key very short, because of
the system of the tone length. The longer you keep the key pressed, the longer
the tone will last in the tune (1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2).
Now you have set your first tone and you can
begin with your next one. When you get a code like Dis2(1/8), you can get the
'is' by pressing the * key. You will have to press the 2 key a bit longer this
time, to get the D tone with a length of 1/8. Just stop pressing the 2 key when
you see 1/8 on your display.
On the picture below you can see which tones are
on which key:
After you have entered the entire tune, you can
set this tune as your standard ringtone. Ringtone number 20 in the list of tones
is your own entered tune.
You can also download the
C25Play
program. This tool will show you which keys to press, if you paste the codes of
the tune into it.
S25
(thanks to Patrick van Noort (his paged once
could be found at
http://www.geocities.com/midi2s25/)
for the text below)
You can program the notes into your S25 by using
the following keys:
1 : C note
2 : D note
3 : E note
4 : F note
5 : G note
6 : A note
7 : B and H note
8 : Octave higher
0 : Octave lower
# : Note with a #
* : Insert a pause
You can lengthen your notes by using the buttons
on the left side of your phone. If you enter a note and push the top button on
the left side constantly, you'll get a full note in the end. This note looks
like an open "o". Push once on the bottom left side button and you'll
get a 3/4 note which looks like :"o." an o with a dot on the right
side.
Every time you push the bottom left button you'll
shorten the duration of a note. A half note looks like a filled o and a quarter
note looks like a d. An 1/8 note looks like a d with a small line at the end of
the d and for an 1/16 and a 1/24 note you just have to add additional lines.
Octaves are shown in the triangular shape in the
top of your S25 screen. The lowest you can go is the 0 octave and every push on
the 8 will make the octave one higher.
Your phone remembers the duration settings of the
last note you entered, so if you set the duration on (1/16) for instance it will
stay like that until you push one of the buttons on the left hand side.
C35
The note
duration is determined by the time that the button is pressed.
Example
for Dis2(1/16):
D = note D, press key 2
is = semitone, press key #
2 = second octave, press * for changing octave
(1/16) = lenght tone, note duration is determined by the time the key is pressed
that corresponds with the note.
S35
Keys 1-7: correspond to the notes C, D, E, F, G,
A and H/B.
Key 8: Increase length of note.
Key 0: Reduce length of note.
Key 9: One note higher.
Key #: One note lower.
Key *: Insert a pause.
There are two round buttons (O) on the leftside
of the cellphone. With these two buttons you can change the octaves.
Upper key: higher
Lower key: lower
So inserting a melody in a Siemens S35 is almost
the same as composing melody on a Siemens S25. The only
difference is that the keys for changing note lengths and changing octaveshave
been switched.
